So this past weekend I went to the MoCCA Art Fest here in NYC and it was GREAT! I sold a TON of the Freewheel: Volume One book as well as a hefty pile of the My Brain Hurts books. This was the first time I’ve been to a convention where I met more than a few people who were nervous to talk to me, as if I was famous or something. It was quite the ego boost if a little confusing.

The Daily News made a slideshow/list of their favorite picks from MoCCA and Freewheel: Volume One made it on! Check out the list to see all the greatest comics you should be reading right now!

We left the con on Sunday night with our bag noticeably lighter, which is always a wonderful feeling. It’s so great to be able to hang out and meet the people who enjoy my work, as well as people who are just discovering my comics for the first time. If you’re one of those people, then hello!

I didn’t do much partying aside from the Drink & Draw Like a Lady event on Friday night, and that party was a great, friendly, very chill, relaxed affair, so it felt perfect. I got to meet one of my fellow frequenters of Webcomics.com, Mary, who does a comic called NPC which you should definitely check out. The place was PACKED so it was hard to move around, and I was glad to know so many friendly faces! A bunch of us ended up going out to a diner afterward and continuing our lively chatter for another hour or two. It was really fun!

Anyway, MoCCA was a great time, as always! I’ll be back again next year! The next convention I’ll be attending will be Indie Island at Heroes Con in June. See you then!
